Because you're stupid.

Get It

Try It

Get this Spam Cr@p out of here!!!
Myself and others have posted that this app does not work ... it does not strip ppc code, and the comments either get deleted or the author changes the name of the app slightly and releases a new version with the same non-functionality and no improvements whatsoever. I tried it again and it still does not work and the author never comments what is new or why it does not work .... ergo, this is SPAM and SHOULD BE FOREVER REMOVED FROM VT!!!! [alert admin]

Xslimmer 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)
The developer of 'Downsizer' is no longer hosting the app so you can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?dsiryjjsxxy I repeat again that xslimmer will not slim plugins or contextual menu items, such as quicktime plugins for example, will not strip languages from certain apps such as Adium, and will not properly strip the ppc code from some apps. Anyone can download the apps and run their own tests. For example: TinkerTool 3.7a Results: xslimmer - 5.1 mb Downsizer 1.2 mb The Blacklist is also never updated because I stripped 'Speed Download 4' with Downsizer and it worked fine, even though xslimmer refused to slim it. Xslimmer 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)
further to my first review below, I have noticed that it also does not even properly strip the ppc from many apps properly either. Compared to 'Downsizer', on some apps the resulting size difference is negligeable, but on others it is huge, an example being 'Episode Pro 4.3' which only has English. Resulting sizes - xslimmer: 96mb Downsizer: 50mb 46mb difference??? what the heck is xslimmer actually doing, or not doing as the case may be? All I can say is, it may look nice, but it sure as heck doesn't work properly. [alert admin]

Xslimmer 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)
This does not work properly with a few apps, Adium being an example. It says it has properly stripped the ppc code and the languages but if you check the package you will find that all the languages are still there. It also does not strip anything from plugins or contextual menu items. I would expect that a paid app would at least be as thorough as a free applescript but that is not the case. Downsizer (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30686) removes everything from anything I have ever thrown at it, and is free. Unfortunately it is not drag and drop. [alert admin]

it does NOW. And yes, I do know what a reference movie is otherwise I would not have brought it up. I think it is obvious that you just changed the behavior of the app since you just made this comment 8 months after I pointed out the fact and are trying to make it look like it was always the case, which I think makes you and your statements pretty pathetic. When I made that observation... [alert admin]

I would like to see a response from apple regarding this app. If this was really for legal use then THEY WOULD HAVE A WARRANT and would not need this app which is just to steal critical and private information illegally. I hope they go bankrupt very soon. [alert admin]

'The X Lab™ is a private venture dedicated to providing outstanding troubleshooting information and services to users of Apple Mac OS X.' .....as I said, who made this site the final authority. And for your second point .... who gives a cr@p about fixing an obscure problem with Logic if they don't use Logic! [alert admin]

who made that site the final authority? [alert admin]

welcome to the stubborn developer bug. I have made a few comments and warnings about this new behavior on a couple of posts below. The method he is now using for rebuilding the launchservice database is NOT the correct procedure. What he is doing is ERASING the lauchservice database, thereby wiping out all your custom settings. [alert admin]

what kind of problem are you having specifically? [alert admin]

I have not tried this but Chronosync works very well [alert admin]

you have to wonder about posters with no other posts to their name that pop up like this to give an app 5 stars [alert admin]
