There's lots going on as per usual.
Connecting seems to take a bit longer. But not much. And it's for this time only. For a reason you're about to discover. You might notice the green panel says 'updating' rather than 'connecting'. Then in a flash it's over. You may get a keychain prompt but that's it. You've just updated your Spotify client. And it was so fast you hardly noticed - about one minute. And it was painless.
And it's less than 2.5 MB. And like before it just works. Spotify version 0.3.10.
If you want to be a nitpicker (it costs precious little) you can 'lipo' the two binaries.
lipo Spotify.app/Contents/MacOS/Spotify -thin <ARCH> -output Spotify.app/Contents/MacOS/Spotify
lipo Relauncher.app/Contents/MacOS/Relauncher -thin <ARCH> -output Relauncher.app/Contents/MacOS/Relauncher
Things will race through your mind the first time you run this app. You'll wonder how they can manage it so that when you double-click any track you get playback instantaneously. You'll realise the claims you've read that this is as fast or faster than Apple's yesterday product iTunes are really true.
You'll admire their insistence on open standards and open source.
You'll wonder about all the technologies they've combined so you can double-click anything at any time with millions of tracks already available and your track gets found instantly and streamed to you instantly and you get instant play.
You'll wonder about the work they're doing up front in London and at the Royal Library in Stockholm to woo the big four and the indies to make something like this available.
You'll wonder why the really big software houses can't do things this well. Can't even come close to doing things this well.
And so forth. You'll be in good company.

1,000,000 New Tracks
IDG Sweden report Spotify have added 1,000,000 tracks representing 175,000 new artists in the past few days.
Thinking of Everything
Spotify's programmers think of everything. They seem to work by the principle that if you can think something is probably possible then it should be.
Spotify drags both standard URLs and proprietary URIs; the difference is you hold down '⌥' to drag the latter.
So you're looking at an artist summary with top requests and hundreds of tracks - what happens if you hit '⌘A'? Yep - it selects all the tracks. You reckoned it might; therefore it did. So what happens if you hit '⌘C'? Open a text editor and see.
OK so will anything happens if you hit '⌥⌘C'? You reckoned it might; therefore it did. Try pasting in again.
The Spotify crew should take a sabbatical when they get to version 1.0 and do a world tour to teach good design.
Spotify on the iPhone
Yes it's true - the Spotify crew are currently testing their iPhone client. They're not planning for next week or next year - they're planning for the future. A wireless one that's soon upon all.
But the Spotify iPhone client will be here before you know it.
