Guardian Censoring Information in Assange Case

Alan's forum nannies are hard at work.

LONDON (Rixstep) — Alan Rusbridger and his Guardian have gone from scorned lover to the other side - comments to posts that spread important information are being systematically removed.

It seems that the Guardian newspaper may be under some sort of gag order about this [Assange] case. I have been commenting in the Guardian liveblog articles for some weeks now and kept noticing how some of my comments were being removed by the moderators for reasons I couldn't quite fathom. Sometimes, when I've posted a comment asking why, not only has my query been removed but the fact I've even asked it has been obscured by changing my username over the removed post. The posts that have been removed have mentioned one or other of the following:

  • Mentions in the MSM of lack of DNA on a supposedly used torn condom
  • Links to blog articles on Thomas Bodström
  • Link to article by Brad Freidman re US government contract for 'false persona' software revealed by HB Gary hack
  • Links to articles on the Professors Blogg website

Finally, one of the moderators took pity on me and responded to my request they tell me via my private email. Here's what was sent:

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,

We saw your comment asking why links to Prof Blog get removed by the moderators. All we're able to say is that certain external links potentially pose legal risk for the Guardian, and therefore have to be removed

Obviously I have no way of alerting other Guardian readers/general public that the Guardian is at 'legal risk' from the free flow of information in the Assange extradition case as my post will be immediately removed. Anyone want to investigate further?

Thanks.

If I am able to reveal what I know, everyone will realise this is all a charade. If I could tell the British courts, I suspect it would make extradition a moot point.

I can tell you that the Swedish prosecution still hasn't provided copies of those SMS texts that have been referred to. Those texts are some of the most powerful exculpatory evidence. In Australia prosecutors have a very grave duty to disclose such evidence to courts when seeking the grave exercise of a court's power against an individual. Yet in Sweden in this case, in the first hearings to obtain an arrest warrant, those texts were not submitted to the Swedish court, which is highly improper.
