LONDON (Rixstep) — SSD storage is still premium. There is elegance in simplicity.

Note that the first screenshot below - /Applications - includes the Xcode hive, which is monstrous. Perhaps 60% of all that's there.

The du output file is 20 MB. That's how big it is. You'll also be reminded that APFS doesn't sort on disk. For sorted filesystem data, add '| sort'.

The /System hive is smaller, perhaps not surprisingly.

But either way, it's a lot of files - and a lot of disk space - for a system that uses SSD.
