Unix comes with powerful file attributes that are most always dealt with in octal. Which can be trying for the novice. Xattrib spells them all out: the access permissions, the sticky bits, set IDs, user append and system append flags, and more. Together with its companions in the Xfile System Xattrib represents the only fully comprehensive and thorough file information available for OS X.
