Windows 7 Falls Prey to 80% of Virus AttacksThe number one question unequivocally answered.
Windows 7: people with NFC put down their mobile devices long enough to rush out and buy a copy for $319 or perhaps less. Because Windows 7 was going to be the answer to everything. Right?
Right.
But Sophos did an experiment. They installed Windows 7 on a clean machine with no antivirus protection and with UAC set to default and then threw at it the next ten malware samples that came in the door.
Gee whiz what a surprise. Se7en of them ran - actually eight with a different UAC setting.
'Windows 7 users need not feel left out. They can still participate in the ZBot botnet with a side of fake antivirus', says Sophos researcher Chester Wisniewski.
