Happy Twitter HolidaysThe hits just keep on coming.
SAN FRANCISCO (Rixstep) — Twitter celebrated the holidays today by going offline for an hour.
None of the other top Internet sites had outages. As per usual.
The time has come - obviously - to ask the survivors of Evan's startup if they really know what they're doing. The time has also come for Twitter's VCs to ask themselves if they know what they've been investing in. The time has also come to ask if Twitter can ever be monetised.
The Twitter status page - which the Fail Whale™ will direct you to - isn't on the same network as Twitter. Thank goodness. And the big image they insist on using as a masthead comes from Evan's earlier site - even to this day.
There's no Fail Whale for Google; none for Facebook, none for the New York Times or the London Times or Der Spiegel or YouTube. Those sites are designed to be functional and above all reliable - not follow golden bloody ratios.
Do the VCs understand how their money's being squandered by a bunch of twits? if you can't handle the heat then get out of the kitchen. And if you can't handle the traffic then get off the bloody Internet.
Obviously.
