Nancy's Gone

What was it the band played?

Less than two months after Apple's two top dogs of hardware and software walked, Apple's - and NeXT's - top legal counsel did the same. Senior VP Nancy Heinen is gone - and so are $7,500,000 of Apple stock acquired through the 2003 employee stock plan.

Prior to her position at Apple Nancy was VP and general counsel and secretary to the board of directors of NeXT Software, a position she held from February 1994 until the Apple/NeXT 'merger'.

Nancy R Heinen was admitted to the California bar in 1982. Apple will not comment on Nancy's resignation more than to say she's gone.

On 2 May Dow Jones reported that Nancy filed to sell 125,000 shares of Apple stock on 30 April, according to a 'form 144' released by the SEC. At the time she valued her stock at $3 million. E*trade Securities were the broker for the sale.

Nancy's sale marks yet another insider sale at Apple. Chief Financial Officer Fred Andersson filed to sell 100,000 shares on 23 April. Also on the list are senior VP Anthony Fadell, Avie's replacement Bertrand Serlet, Jon Rubinstein who sold several hundred thousand shares, Avie who sold over 500,000 shares, senior VP Phil Schiller who sold several hundred thousand shares, and Timothy Cook with a planned sale of 300,000 shares.

A listing of all Apple's insider transactions can be found here. Looking through the list shows that recent events are not unique: top dogs at Apple have been doing this for years.
