Apple CFO resigns, along with Nancy Heinen under investigation.


CUPERTINO (Rixstep) -- Apple CFO and board director Fred Anderson has been asked to leave amidst a growing investigation into the company's backdating of stock options. Nancy Heinen, who left Apple earlier this year, is also mentioned in the probes.

Anderson became Apple CFO in 1996 and joined the board of directors in 2004. Anderson came to Apple from ADP where he was also CFO. Prior to his position at ADP Anderson held a number of both domestic and international executive positions with MAI Systems. Anderson also sits on the board of eBay.

Heinen joined Apple in September 1997 as senior vice president and general counsel. She was previously vice president and general counsel at NeXT Software where she managed the company's merger with Apple. Prior to her position at NeXT Software she was a general counsel and assistant secretary for Tandem Computers.
