Clean caches: has anyone ever tried this? Mojave or Catalina. Anyone?

This is a horrific tale. There are two types of users.

1. Window lickers.

2. Everyone else. Like us.

So how did all this shit start?

It started innocently enough. We changed the icons for the Keymasters. Innocent enough, right? They were too wide and too high. So we used legacy equipment to make the economical 128s. Now back on modern kit, we 'distributed'. But they won't show up in the Dock. The old 'kill -9' won't help either.

So this machine is accumulating too much shit anyway. Safari's a fucking monster. Anyone want to know how bad? Take a look yourself. Those people don't know what they're doing. So there's a new list put in root for SUM boots. (And no, you don't use the pussy 'recovery', you use SUM FFS.)

So clean a bit of shit and then reboot into SUM. Then do the fsck and the mount. Now go into private/var and clean the shit out.

Why, some doofus might ask? Because Apple fucked up the defaults system is why, you worthless fanboy piece of shit. Nobody knows what the fuck they're doing. The suspicion is *THEY DON'T KNOW EITHER*. Where are your preferences? In ~/Library/Preferences? Think again, motherfucker. Fact is NO ONE KNOWS WHERE THE FUCK THEY ARE.

They could be in those var/folders locations...

Have you seen how much SHIT they accumulate in there? They call this an operating system? Ken and DMR would kick their asses, bitch-slap them from here to eternity. And then some. And then a week more, just for good measure. What colossal dumbfucks. The system is a mess - a fucking mess.

So it's time to reboot and see if we get our new Keymaster icons.

We don't. We have to go back into SUM and try again. This time it works - but everything else is SHOT TO SHIT.

They really allow Safari downloads to 'open' by default? Hadn't they stopped that stupid shit?

We have default backup Safari PLISTs. So we get the same tabs, window size, and so forth. Does that work? Guess. So exit Safari, clean out EVERYTHING in ~/Library/Safari except the essential files such as 'LastSession', reboot again, retry again.

NO. IT DOESN'T WORK.

Where are the settings? Run this from the command line:

% defaults delete com.apple.Safari

Then copy in the default backup Safari PLIST.

Does it work now?

Guess, dipshit.

The Safari window's all over the place. The settings are for shit. Good GOD, they can't really mean people are supposed to use this app that way? Are they fucking kidding? Those developers at Apple aren't too bright, are they? They can't be if they work with a web browser that looks that demented.

So many things you didn't see because your settings were already tweaked, going back who knows how many years in time...

But here's the thing. What are the application defaults? WHERE ARE THEY - you know you'll never know that. How do you get back to application defaults? How, you stupid fucking assholes? How do you find your way out of those myriad beige rabbit holes?
